For parents of newborns

If you have chosen Žaliakalnis Polyclinic as your child's health care facility, where to go next, what is the procedure?

  • When your baby is born, call the reception of Žaliakalnis Polyclinic and inform them that you need a newborn check-up.
  • Newborn baby 1 time within 3 working days of your notification of departure from the delivery room:
    • will be visited and examined by a doctor or nurse;
    • Advice on newborn care, hygiene (especially skin, belly button), breastfeeding, and maternal nutrition;
  • The child's follow-up examination (1-2 times a month) is carried out at the outpatient clinic:
    • The doctor assesses the health of the newborn;
    • The nurse assesses the quality of the newborn's care, informs about immunoprophylaxis, the vaccination calendar and the order and timing of follow-up visits;

What documents do I need when I first arrive at the clinic with my newborn baby (before he/she turns 1 month old)?

  • Child's birth certificate
  • One parent's identity document
  • Fill in an application form at the reception for treatment at Žaliakalnis Polyclinic;

It is important to know that:

  • Children under 18 are covered by compulsory health insurance (CHI), so the services provided to a newborn in a health facility are not paid for by the state, but by the sickness insurance fund, the Compulsory Health Insurance Fund (CHIF).
  • Tests that are not covered by the PSDF but are requested by the newborn's parents must be paid for by the parents.
