Orthopaedics-traumatology includes the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and injuries of the bones, muscles, joints and ligaments. Orthopaedic injuries are serious injuries to a part of the musculoskeletal system, such as a joint or ligament . They are most often sustained in car accidents, slips, falls or sports. A life-threatening injury, such as an open fracture, requires an immediate trip to the emergency department. The doctors there will give you the help you need. In other cases, the orthopaedic injury is not life-threatening. However, the victim still needs professional help.
