Early help service for people with signs of disability continues in 2025

In the framework of the implementation of the Law on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the Republic of Lithuania, an early intervention service was launched and tested in 2024 for persons with obvious signs of disability, before they have been diagnosed as having a level of disability or a level of participation, and for their family members. The service aims to ensure that people facing the challenges of a potential disability receive the help they need in a timely manner.

In 2025, the Early Intervention Service continues, with 10 associations opting to implement this activity, providing the necessary support and information to people facing the signs of disability. The service is provided through non-governmental organisations representing the rights and interests of persons with disabilities.

What help is available?

Early intervention services include:

  • Information and counselling for the person with a disability and/or their family members;
  • Emotional and psychological support;
  • Representation and assistance with disability-related issues.

Services are provided on an as-needed basis for a maximum of 6 months, with a minimum of 4 services per beneficiary. It is important to note that the Early Intervention Service is completely free of charge as it is funded by the Agency for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Where to go?

Updated information on the associations providing early intervention services, their contacts and the content of their services can be found on the website of the Agency for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Persons with disabilities or their families are encouraged to make active use of this opportunity.

Information dissemination and cooperation

The Agency for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities asks healthcare institutions, doctors' associations and other interested bodies to share this information with potential recipients of early intervention services. We also encourage you to publicise this information on websites and social networks in order to reach as widely as possible the people for whom this support can be of vital importance.
