PCR tests (molecular diagnostics)

View Prices

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) research, or molecular diagnostics, is one of the most modern, sensitive and accurate methods in modern medicine. This test in the laboratory allows the detection of even the smallest amount of genetic material (DNA or RNA) of the causative agent (virus or bacteria) in the patient’s sample. Unlike serological blood tests, which only look for the body’s response (antibodies), the PCR test shows the direct presence of the pathogen itself in the body.

Molecular tests performed in our clinic ensure the highest diagnostic reliability. This makes it possible to identify infections at the earliest stage or during the asymptomatic course of the disease, when other research methods do not yet show anything.

Benefits of PCR diagnostics

Molecular testing is valued for several essential features that ensure maximum health control:

  • Extraordinary sensitivity and specificity: The test unmistakably identifies the desired microorganism even at its minimal concentration in the sample and is capable of accurately distinguishing very similar types of bacteria or viruses.

  • Choice of test material: Depending on the patient’s convenience and indications, many infections can be tested either from specialized swabs taken by the doctor or from a urine sample provided by the patient.

  • Quick answer: Infection can be detected just a few days after possible contact or infection, without waiting for the body to mount an immune response (thus avoiding the insidious window period).

Molecular diagnostic services provided at the clinic

In our laboratory, we perform a wide range of targeted PCR tests, divided by body systems (service rates depend on the number of pathogens analyzed and the patient’s registration status in the clinic):

Diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

We offer separate DNA tests for bacteria and fungi, performed from smear or urine:

  • Individual pathogen tests: Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Mycoplasma hominis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomona vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis and Candida albicans (simple candidiasis). Herpes simplex virus (HSV) one and two types of DNA are also determined, as well as an additional culture of M. hominis and U. urealyticum.

  • Combined infection packages:

    • Four-agent panel (first option): Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Trichomonas vaginalis DNA detection (from smear or urine).

    • Four-agent panel (second option): Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma species DNA detection (from smear or urine).

    • Six-agent panel: Chlamydia trachomatis, Mycoplasma genitalium, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis, Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma species DNA search (from smear or urine).

    • Panel of seven pathogens: Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Mycoplasma genitalium, Chlamydia trachomatis, Trichomonas vaginalis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Ureaplasma parvum and Mycoplasma hominis DNA test (from smear or urine).

    • Ten Agent Panel: The most comprehensive intimate health screening, including DNA identification (from swab or urine) of Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Mycoplasma genitalium, Chlamydia trachomatis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, Ureaplasma parvum, Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Candida albicans, Candida glabrata and Candida krusei.

  • Gynecological fungal palette: Targeted DNA determination of the three main Candida pathogens (albicans, glabrata, krusei) from smear or urine.

Respiratory tract (respiratory) system research

Specialized detection of bacterial DNA in severe or chronic respiratory tract inflammation (for these tests, it is necessary to pre-order a special transport medium from the laboratory):

  • A panel of two respiratory bacteria: DNA determination of Chlamydophila pneumoniae and Mycoplasma pneumoniae.

  • Panel of seven respiratory bacteria: Comprehensive DNA testing of Chlamydophila pneumoniae, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Legionella pneumophila, Bordetella pertussis, Bordetella parapertussis, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae.

Diagnosis of tick-borne diseases

  • Tick-borne encephalitis virus RNA testing: Safe and operative molecular testing of the ingested and extracted tick itself, allowing to know whether the tick was infected before the first symptoms.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) genotyping

Advanced oncological risk assessment studies in women for cervical cancer prevention:

  • DNA testing of fourteen high-risk genotypes of HPV: Searching for the fourteen main types of virus that cause cancer risk by standard method or from a liquid medium sample.

  • A study of fourteen HPV genotypes with grouping: An analysis in which high-risk types are grouped according to their frequency of occurrence and dangerousness (excluding the sixteenth, eighteenth, thirty-first, forty-fifth, fifty-first, fifty-second types and grouped thirty-third with fifty-eighth, fifty-sixth with fifty-ninth and sixty sixth, and thirty-fifth with thirty-ninth and sixty-eighth types). The test is also carried out in the usual way or from a liquid medium.

When is it recommended to choose a PCR test?

Molecular examination in our clinic is indispensable in the following cases:

  • Suspecting a possible infection with a sexually transmitted infection after unprotected sex, even if you do not feel any symptoms of the disease at all.

  • When other laboratory diagnostic methods (for example, a microbiological culture or a blood test for antibodies) give unclear, ambiguous results.

  • In order to quickly and accurately examine the tick itself immediately after its extraction, without waiting several weeks for the first signs of Lyme disease or tick-borne encephalitis to appear in the body.

  • To perform annual, highly accurate cervical cancer screening for high-risk HPV types.

The first-class equipment and sensitive laboratory systems used in our clinic guarantee the quality of the tests and the accuracy of the results. Take care of the safety of your health and that of your loved ones by conducting tests on time.
