Professional oral hygiene

In the midst of everyday worries and challenges, we often forget that we need to take care not only of them, but also of our own individual oral hygiene. Because neglecting it often has very painful consequences.

One of the most important objectives of dental care is to preserve oral health. In this area, there is an opportunity to effectively reduce the number of diseases through preventive measures. Prevention is a set of measures that help to strengthen, restore and preserve a person's health. Nowadays, dentistry is simply unthinkable without the prevention of oral diseases.

Personal oral hygiene, also known as individual oral hygiene, is the ongoing oral health care that each person performs using personal hygiene products. The main method of hygiene care is to brush your teeth at least twice a day to remove food debris and plaque and to stop them from damaging other oral tissues. There are also other methods: flossing, rinsing with certain solutions, cleaning the tongue and irrigation with specialised appliances. However, hard plaque cannot be removed by the individual. Tartar is removed by professional oral hygiene (PBH). The frequency of the procedure is decided by the oral hygienist according to the patient's individual oral hygiene, the intensity of tartar accumulation and the plaque retention conditions. Depending on these factors, professional oral hygiene is performed approximately one to four times a year.

The procedure consists of an oral examination, tartar removal with an ultrasonic scaler, tartar removal with hand instruments, polishing with air abrasion (sodaput) and polishing with polishing paste.
